Both went into “premature ovarian failure”—a condition that causes the ovaries to stop producing eggs. The reason? Each girl received three Gardasil shots. Gardasil is sold by Merck. It is touted as a vaccine that will prevent a certain type of cancer, but some side effects of the vaccine are dangerous, even deadly. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) defends Merck, saying they “found no reason to be concerned” about premature ovarian failure, and they will monitor the condition.
